Vampire Tristan Locke – Entry # 4 I am fully unpacked and as settled as I am going to be. I cannot complain – Stacey’s condo is comfortable and quite suitable for my present circumstances. The station has been building hype for the show and I have taped a few promotional spots to that end. They have started airing and people are noticing, though not many just yet. They decided on a name for the show – Edge. It is based on the theory that the show will have the edge over other shows with its content and attractive hosts and correspondents. I know I am the shock factor in this line up. I have also been occupied with a full social calendar, thanks in part to Stacey’s many friends and acquaintances. Some of whom are vampiric individuals, so they say. I believe some only talk the talk, but do not walk the walk. It is all too common in the vampire and goth communities. Truthfully, I hate people. I tolerate them as necessary to accomplish my goals. Alas, Donne was right, no man is an island. Well, not if he wants to get certain things done anyway. I must admit that there are a few exceptions. People want to be around me, they want my favor. They seem to bask in me. For this I have acquired some admirers and though attention can be invigorating I sometimes find myself disgusted. Aside from throwing them a bone (a hello or a nod) I mostly remain distant. I am suspicious of those who want to get close. I do not trust their intentions nor I deem most worthy of my time. Of those who think they are close, very few really are. Even out of those who are close, it’s not entirely real; I have well guarded secrets that even they do not know. Writing about social situations reminds of a most unfortunate one last night. I managed to get through the obligatory meet the parents ordeal. I do not think I would have made it through the evening in polite form if it weren’t for Leah. Leah…. She is not affected by me the way everyone else is. I sense she seeks nothing from me and shows no sign of wanting me in her bed. She is a puzzle. Stacey and I met her two weeks ago at a gathering for a local Vampire/Pagan House here. I noticed her immediately when she entered the dim basement. . It was not her looks; her rather plump physique is not to my taste. Her Energy! I did find her green eyes and long auburn hair pleasant though. Though she is not a beauty, something came over me and I immediately demanded an introduction. I turned my charm on high and assaulted her with my best smile when we were introduced. Polite indifference! Her green eyes touched on me briefly as she greeted me. We shook hands and her energy surrounded me. How tasty. But I dared not pursue that line of thought. Instead, I brought her hand to my lips and kissed it – the old fashioned gesture struck me as right. Energy flared between us and she pulled her hand away. It was then that I realized I held her hand to my lips too long. Nick, the host of the party, was staring at me hard. I ignored him and gave her my best smile again. I purposely met her eyes, which took some effort on my part. She felt that energetic flare, I know she did. I also know it caught her off guard. It was likewise for me, though I will admit it nowhere but here. What a donor she would make. Though with how protective Nick was of her I doubted it would be (I learned later that this particular House was very protective of its members) I complimented Nick on his gathering and the quality of people at it, making sure I looked right at Leah. I do not think he missed the subtle gesture. A few moments later, when I was introduced to Nick’s girlfriend Cassie I learned that Nick and Leah were not romantically linked. I must say that I was relieved. Attached donors can be complicated because their partners don’t understand the nature of things and/or they are jealous. It was not long before Stacey and Cassie whisked Leah away. I presume for some girl talk. Stacey did notice my immediate interest and she was not jealous. She knew it was not a romantic physical thing. A friendship formed between Stacey and Leah and it was why Leah was visiting when Stacey’s parents arrived unannounced. Stacey is home. I must continue this a bit later.
